Virgil Van Dijk makes shock statement

The on field success has been surrounded by negative press in recent months. Despite the brilliance of Arne Slot and how well Liverpool are playing, problems continue to grow. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah are set to leave Anfield in the summer. The trio have been yet to sign new deals with the club.
All three have been pivotal to this season; Van Dijk has been a rock in the defence, Trent has found himself again, and Salah continues to thrive in attack. So it remains a mystery to some Liverpool fans why the three players refuse to commit their future. Reports claim that the reds have focused their transfer plans around this summer. Decisions will be made factoring the future of the players mentioned.
After the Spurs win, Van Dijk seemingly rubbished rumours that he had signed a new contract:
”The only thing I’m focusing on is the game ahead of me, and I’m feeling good. I think everyone can see that, and what the future brings, at the moment, I’ve got no idea.
So anyone who says they know it, they are absolutely wrong. But we’ll see what happens.”
Liverpool have booked a date with Newcastle United in the League Cup final at Wembley. Virgil Van Dijk believes the team can lift their first trophy of this campaign. The reds face Plymouth this weekend.
“We needed a complete performance,” Van Dijk said. “At half-time I think we could get a level up with intensity.
“But to win here like we did tonight is great for the team and the club. Now we focus on the FA Cup.
“If you bring intensity to the game, anybody can make mistakes – a beautiful win today.
“Nights like this where there’s a lot at stake, we didn’t take it for granted – we all wanted to go there [Wembley] again with the fans, and it was a great team performance.”
Liverpool have also made a last attempt to convince Trent Alexander-Arnold to stay, according to reports.
