Liverpool boss Arne Slot has a dilemma on his hands for the upcoming games.
During the winter transfer window, fans and pundits alike complained about Liverpool’s inactivity in the transfer market. The reds failed to add a first team signing this month. Just like in the summer when the only signing was Federico Chiesa.
Liverpool have been great despite the odds. Arne Slot has shown his ability to get the best out of this crop of players. Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz look better than they did last season. Ryan Gravenberch went from a shaky start to his career in England, but is now one of the best midfielders in the league.

Liverpool star to miss more games

Last weekend, the reds beat Bournemouth 2-0 away from home. The result was only the Cherries’ third home defeat this season. A brace from Mohamed Salah was enough to seal all three points. During the game, Trent Alexander-Arnold pulled up with an injury around the 70th minute. He immediately called for a substitution and was taken off.
After the game, Arne Slot confirmed that it was a thigh injury. Liverpool were confident that the defender would be out for just days instead of weeks.
Liverpool beat Spurs 4-0 in the second leg of their League Cup tie. The reds overturned a 1-0 deficit from the first leg. Trent missed the game on Thursday, and Arne Slot says he could miss even more games:
“No, I don’t think so yet. That’s going to be too early for him,” Slot replied when asked if Alexander-Arnold could be involved this weekend.
“Difficult to say [about the derby]. Like I said before, it’s not going to take months and not even weeks but that’s only three days after the Plymouth Argyle game, so let’s wait and see if he is available.
“We also have to look at the long term, of course we don’t want to take any risks with so many games afterwards coming up. But if he’s fit then of course we will use him.”
Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai were on the scoresheet as Liverpool booked their place in the League Cup final.
Conor Bradley has shown his quality
In Trent’s absence on Thursday night, Conor Bradley was the starter at right back. The defender was able to shut down Son Heung-Min on the left flank, and also ended the game with an assist. Liverpool will be in safe hands till Trent Alexander-Arnold returns.
