Liverpool face Galatasaray today as the Reds will be hoping to take home three points for the continental competition. The game is in Turkey as Cimbom prepare to welcome the Merseysiders.
Unfortunately for Liverpool, their last game didn’t go as planned, with the Reds facing their second loss against Crystal Palace. The Eagles are the only club they have lost against this season, and it will be interesting to see how their future clashes play out.
Italian defender Giovanni Leoni injured his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) against Southampton last weekend. This was a huge blow to Arne Slot as the Dutchman is left with only three defenders to choose from.
Federico Chiesa is unavailable for the Galatasaray game after being added to the UEFA Champions League A list. Leoni’s injury opened up a place for the winger, but he later suffered a niggle against Crystal Palace.
Real Madrid UEFA sanction
Another big clash that fans will be looking forward to is the one against Real Madrid in November. Los Blancos have become a villainous figure after stealing Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.
However, the English full-back hasn’t had the best of starts to his Spanish career. Even his senior Dani Carvajal is currently injured, and there were big concerns regarding both players’ availability against the Reds.
Alexander-Arnold is expected to return to full fitness before November. Carvajal’s situation, though, was more disciplinary than regarding fitness.
The Spanish full-back is also expected to return around the same time as Trent. However, following his shenanigans against Marseille, the 33-year-old was sent off in the Champions League clash.
He headbutted Geronimo Rulli in the face before seeing red. This purposeful action drew a lot of attention from UEFA. However, now the player has been given only a two-match suspension.
This means Carvajal will only miss the next game against Juventus, as he has already served one game against Kairat Almaty.

Arne Slot talks about Liverpool’s slip before the Galatasaray clash
Arne Slot didn’t take the slip against Crystal Palace lightly as the gaffer talked about the implications of that match moving forward.
“For me, defending is only a small margin. One of our strengths last season was that we kept teams away from our goal, and that starts somewhere else, not defenders.”
“We need 11 players to work incredibly hard to stop chances, but you can work as hard as you want, but set pieces are a different game inside the game.”
