Trent Alexander-Arnold looked ecstatic after scoring against Leicester City last weekend. Some viewed it as a sign that he could still continue at Liverpool, and there have been rumours that last-ditch attempts are being made to convince him to stay on Merseyside.
Real Madrid have been tapping up the defender since last year, and signing Trent Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer has been their goal since last summer.
Liverpool’s attempts to convince him to sign a new deal have so far fallen flat, and Real Madrid have been sure about signing him since March, when they told the same to Carlo Ancelotti.
However, there is speculation that a sensational U-turn is on the cards, and Liverpool are making a final effort to keep the defender at Anfield beyond the end of the season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has finalised a decision

Alexander-Arnold was seen as the future Liverpool captain before it became clear that he has his eyes on moving on from Anfield this summer.
Liverpool are said to have matched Real Madrid’s offer and placed a massive contract on his table to convince him to stay on Merseyside beyond the end of the season.
However, according to the Athletic’s David Ornstein, the defender is still scheduled to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
The transfer journalist insisted that there is no change in plans, and a move to the Spanish capital remains very much on course for Alexander-Arnold.
Real Madrid have been quietly confident of getting things sorted, and an announcement will be made soon to confirm his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Liverpool are aware that they are unlikely to do much to change his mind at this late stage of the season.
