Report: Awaiting final approval, club will request Liverpool player's "health reports"

If Fenerbache manager İsmail Kartal gives his approval, Joel Matip could complete a move to the Turkish club when his Liverpool contract expires at the end of the season.

That's the latest from Turkish football outlet Sabah, who claim that Matip was "recommended", presumably by his agent, to Fenerbache.

They are looking for a new centre-back with Leonardo Bonucci leaving the club this summer and now manager Kartal can replace him a truly gifted centre-back in Matip.

The report states: "If İsmail Kartal approves, the Cameroonian player's health reports will be requested. Steps will be taken once the reports are reviewed."

With Matip out of contract on 30 June 2024, he has been allowed to talk to interested third parties since January under FIFA laws.

The Cameroonian is certainly one of the most injury prone central defenders on the market but if he has left anyone in doubt as to his talent, then perhaps they weren't paying close enough attention.

From his mazy runs to the way Matip frog-marching over to referees, he has certainly left a mark on the Anfield faithful he helped win six trophies for.

It's an end of an era as Jurgen Klopp is leaving along with one of his first signings.

It's going to get a whole lot weirder from here on out but it's sure to be an exciting ride for Liverpool fans even if it's likely to be typically stressful.
