Liverpool ready bid for 'exceptional' 36-goal striker that has been scouted extensively
According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool are readying a bid for Adam Hlozek after watching him in midweek.
The report reads: "Liverpool are lining up a move for Sparta Prague sensation Adam Hlozek after watching him in midweek action.
"The Czech Republic striker, 18, was assessed by Anfield talent spotters in his side’s Champions League qualifier against Rapid Vienna on Tuesday night.
"A Liverpool source told Football Insider that the club are keeping close tabs on Hlozek as they weigh up a bid."
Hlozek, described as an exceptional striker by his boss Pavel Vrba, is one of the most exciting players on the continent and has scored 36 goals at the age of 18.
Football Insider reported in April that the Reds were tracking the Czech Republic star before reporting that securing his signature will cost around £15m.
Liverpool are in the transfer market for a forward this summer after a season that saw Jurgen Klopp's side regularly falter in front of goal. Their disappointing 1-1 draws with the likes of Leeds United and Newcastle United followed the same predictable and punishing pattern.
In both games, the Anfield outfit started with promise. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the two games while chance after chance went begging before the interval was followed by sluggish and disjointed play.
Leeds and Newcastle both punished Liverpool in the dying minutes of the game with 87th and 95th-minute equalisers respectively stealing four precious points from the Reds.
This poor finishing has seen calls for a new striker to be signed. Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino have been out of form recently, with Mo Salah the only regular scorer for the Reds to talk of.
Signing a forward like Adam Hlozek is exciting but he doesn't immediately answer the issues that Liverpool have. They're in need of a forward that can get them back to the challenging for the Premier League title and unfortunately, Hlozek is not that man.
The 18-year-old is, however, a player for the future that seems destined for a bright future.
He's blessed with a thunderbolt of a right foot but seems able to operate to a similar degree on his left. This two-footedness is valuable in a young player as many up and coming strikers are too dependant on their strong foot.
Hlozek got 15 goals and 9 assists in The Slovak Super Liga last season, earning a call-up to the Czech Republic's squad for the EUROs.
With Liverpool struggling to score the way they once did in a 4-3-3, it might be time to switch to a different system because playing without a clinical no.9 seems to be punishing Klopp's side.
Roberto Firmino's contributions to the team off the ball no longer outweigh his lack of attacking contributions. The Brazilian got just nine Premier League goals in 36 games last season.
Klopp has some major decisions to make and after the Super League debacle, it's going to be hugely fascinating to see how Fenway Sports Group makes it up to Liverpool fans.
This summer will be hugely important for the American ownership if they're going to get supporters back onside.
