"Liverpool have the finances" to complete double marquee swoop to reinvent Jurgen Klopp's team

Liverpool have the finances to sign both Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount, legend Steve McManaman has claimed.

It's no secret that Jurgen Klopp needs to reinvent his side.

After getting demolished 5-2 by Real Madrid last week, it's blatantly clear for all to see that the first great side built by Klopp at Anfield needs to be pulled apart and reinvented.

Most of this overhaul will need to come in the form of new signings and so it's going to be fascinating to discover whether or not owners FSG will provide the necessary funding.

On midfield signings alone, at least £200million is required. Jude Bellingham alone will cost as much as £132million while the likes of Matheus Nunes and Mason Mount also carry £50m+ price tags.

Signing all three would cost Liverpool a minimum of £230m and that's before Klopp addresses any other weakness in his squad.

A new centre-back is needed while Calvin Ramsay's injury-blighted first season at the club suggests a new right-back is required as well.

Speaking to Betfred, McManaman says he believes Liverpool won't spend silly money but is confident that the club can afford two top midfielders.

He said: “I can see [Mount] moving to another Premier League club, but I could say that about any Chelsea player. Chelsea have so many players in their team that something has to give.

“If you’re Mason Mount, then you’re going to want to play every single game and if you’re suddenly in limbo because you don’t know what’s going on with all the new players getting brought in around you, then you’re going to want to know what’s going to happen regarding your future.

“In regards to Liverpool going in for Mason, then it all depends on finances. I could see them getting two marquee signings, no problem at all. I don’t mean in the sense that they can bring in Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé, because that’s far too much money,” McManaman added.

“I don’t know how much Mason Mount would cost but I do believe Liverpool could afford to bring in two good midfielders because I believe Liverpool have the finances this summer, I really do.”

A midfield of Mason Mount at left centre-mid, Fabinho at holding midfield and Jude Bellingham at right center-mid would get Liverpool right back to where they need to be.

Mount isn't a defensively perfect player but his counter-pressing and mobility are key attributes that Jurgen Klopp would be delighted to put to use.
