Personal terms agreed, offer sent: Liverpool can finally complete next signing

Liverpool are close to signing Romeo Lavia from Southampton with the only obstacle remaining an agreement between the two clubs over the player's fee.

Lavia to Liverpool close

All indications point towards a deal to sign Lavia edging closer with the player agreeing personal terms with Liverpool.

Talks between Southampton and the Reds are now described as "concrete" and if a fee can be agreed quickly, there could be enough time for the 19-year-old to take part in enough of pre-season to feature early next season.

This, for the time being, seems unlikely as Liverpool have had a £37m bid rejected - £13m shy of the Saints' £50m asking price which has been holding up negotiations for weeks.

Sacha Tavolieri even adds that the player has been "a little annoyed" at the slow progress being made, however, this is just the nature of these types of transfers.

On Twitter, he reports that the Reds are set to send their first official bid "soon".

On Tuesday morning, Florian Plettenberg reported that "concrete negotiations are ongoing" and that the midfielder has given the "green light" to a Liverpool move.

Now, it seems the Liverpool board has given their green light and a move to sign the Belgian could accelerate.

Liverpool can finally sign Lavia after Reds receive cash

With Fabinho and Jordan Henderson leaving the club, Liverpool will now receive the funds they need to move the needle to sign Lavia.

While journalists often try and reassure fans that Liverpool don't need to sell to buy, this has been systematically disproved every summer by the approach that FSG takes in the transfer market.

Now, with two senior players set to move, Liverpool will finally be able to sign Lavia.

It's a big step towards continuing the midfield revamp that is so important for Liverpool's chances of winning silverware next season.
