Juventus enter race for Liverpool target Pep Guardiola is "enchanted" by

Liverpool are aware of competition from Juventus for Boca Juniors full-back Valentin Barco after the 19-year-old stunned scouts during the Copa Libertadores campaign.

Boca lost 2-1 to Fluminense in the final of the tournament as fellow Liverpool transfer target Andre Trindade lifted the trophy.

However, an update from Italian journalist Rudy Galetti suggests interest from Serie A remains still strong.

He said: “Juventus put Valentin Barco in their sights.

“Many clubs in Europe are following the Argentinian. In May, the left-back has been proposed – among others – to Inter Milan and they club are still interested.

“Boca – on their side – are trying to extend his contract, which expires in December 2024.”

Manchester City are also assessing the teenager with Pep Guardiola said to be "enchanted" by Barco.

Increasingly, reports are emerging linking Liverpool with left-backs with the Reds said to be one of the clubs interested in Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies.

The 23-year-old will be out of contract in 2025 but Liverpool are worried that he will wind up moving to Real Madrid.

Only time will tell but it does seem as though the Reds are now investigating what sort of talent is available at left-back amid growing doubts over Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson.

Barco reportedly has an £8 million release clause and would be quite the bargain if Liverpool are successful in signing him.
