If Liverpool pay €60M they can complete Goncalo Inacio signing this month

Liverpool have reportedly made a bid to sign Goncalo Inacio but a new report makes it clear that Sporting Lisbon will only sell the centre-back if his release clause is activated this month.

The Portugal international has been heavily scouted this season and he has not disappointed. His performances have been a key part of why Sporting top the Primeira Liga after 16 games.

His passing and reading of the game are immaculate although he can be guilty of being too aggressive when stepping out of the backline to tackle.

However, that is something that comes with age and at 22, there still a lot to come from Inacio.

Liverpool must activate release clause to complete January move for Inacio

Last week, one claim from Portugal suggested that Liverpool have made an opening bid to sign Inacio worth €30 million (£26M) with Jorge das Transferencias claiming the Reds are ready to sign the centre-back this month.

Caught Offside now report that Inacio tops Liverpool's transfer list this month while Diario de Noticias in Portugal report Sporting Lisbon are prepared to let him leave this month but only if his €60 million (£52M) release clause is activated. They have already signed his replacement.

Jurgen Klopp is on the lookout for a replacement for Joel Matip. He is out for the rest of the season with an ACL tear and with his contract expiring in the summer, he appears to have played his last game for the club.

Inacio would be an excellent replacement and would elevate the tactics implemented in Klopp's 3-2-2-3 shape.
