€60M star rejects Newcastle, he's waiting to sign for Liverpool or Manchester United

The transfer hot topic at Anfield this month is centre-backs. The Reds need to find a replacement for Joel Matip ahead of his contract expiry at the end of the season.

The former Schalke has been a wonderful servant for the Reds and has been a key figure in the new era of silverware under Jurgen Klopp.

He was the seventh player the German signed after taking the job on Merseyside but he must now replace him.

Sporting Lisbon duo Ousmane Diomande and Goncalo Inacio are two players the Reds are looking at and it seems the latter is waiting for them to make their move.

What's the transfer latest on Goncalo Inacio?

According to a report from O Jogo analysing the transfer prospects on the table for Diomande and Inacio, the Portuguese outlet says that Inacio rejected Newcastle United.

This is because the player is waiting for one of Liverpool, Manchester United or even Real Madrid to approach Lisbon to acquire his services.

Liverpool have been particularly keen on signing the player with one source even suggesting they tabled a low opening offer to sign him worth around €30 million (£26M).

The only way the Reds will be able to sign him is if they trigger his €60 million (£52M) release clause otherwise Sporting will reject all offers.
