Liverpool ready to accelerate move to sign "Klopp’s dream signing" worth €60M

Liverpool are ready to make their move to sign Goncalo Inacio from Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer window.

Earlier this week, TEAMtalk reported exclusively that there is a high chance that the Merseysiders trigger the defender's €60 million (£52M) release clause.

TEAMtalk now reports that with Liverpool's pursuit of Andre "unofficially" over, their "main focus" has now switched to signing a new centre-back.

Joel Matip is out of contract at the end of the season and needs to be replaced with 22-year-old Inacio; a player that has been scouted extensively to be his successor.

The Portugal international is reportedly "Klopp's dream signing" which seems outrageous but if he's as good as reports suggest, Liverpool will be adding another top centre-half to their squad.

Newcastle United are considering making an offer as well with Desporto ao Minuto reporting today that the Magpies "will not let go" of the defender. They're the team to look out for as competition.

While Inacio is an exciting young defender and is more than welcome at Anfield but it doesn't make sense to abandon the hunt for Andre, a defensive midfielder, to focus on signing a replacement for a centre-back that doesn't leave until the summer.

Unless Liverpool rate Inacio higher and fear that if they don't sign him now, they will miss their chance and so must redirect their funds from a deal to sign Andre.

If that's the case, the Reds must be hugely optimistic for the future ahead of the Sporting star.
