Fabinho completes £40 million switch to Saudi Pro League's Al-Ittihad

Fabinho has completed a move from Liverpool to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad and has been congratulated on the switch by new teammate Karim Benzema.

Fabinho joins Al-ittihad, earning Liverpool a decent fee

On Monday evening, Fabinho's move to Saudi was confirmed by Liverpool, with reports suggesting his departure has earned the Reds a £40 million fee.

He joined the club for £43m in 2018 and at the age of 27, it's a good time for both parties to go their separate ways.

Fabinho was a fantastic servant for the club but his levels dropped significantly last season and the decision has now been made to allow him to leave.

Liverpool are in the middle of a midfield rebuild and while allowing both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to leave makes that more difficult, Jurgen Klopp is confident.

Speaking to the press in Singapore before Liverpool beat Leicester City 4-0 on Sunday, the manager said: "First people want changes, now everyone is worrying about the changes. We are really optimistic about it.

"Excited as well."

Karim Benzema congratulate's Fabinho on move to Al-Ittihad

The French striker is one of the biggest names to have made the switch to Saudi this summer and he will be joined at Al-Ittihad by Fabinho.

On Instagram, Benzema commented "Lets go" after Monday evening's official announcement.

The Brazilian won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the FA Community Shield in his time with Liverpool.

He will be remembered as a legend for his role in winning Liverpool's first league title in 30 years.
