“Agents were actually in England”: Christian Falk says surprise target has “spoken to Liverpool FC”

As Liverpool continue their search for a new manager, it's become clear that Niko Kovac is not the leading candidate for the role.

Despite reports suggesting his agents have been in discussions with the club, Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim remains the primary target for the Merseyside outfit.

Christian Falk, in his Fact Files column for CaughtOffside, noted the recent activities surrounding Kovac, stating: "Manager Niko Kovac was most recently released in Wolfsburg. Suddenly he is considered a candidate for Liverpool FC.

"He himself publicly downplays the interest. However, I learned that his agents were actually in England. It is also true that his agents have spoken to Liverpool FC."

Nevertheless, Kovac doesn't rank at the top of Liverpool's list. Falk elaborated: "The result: Kovac is not one of the top candidates at Liverpool. But it is also true that he is on an extended list of candidates who are not yet an issue but which the club is monitoring."

The focus, instead, is on Amorim, who has made a name for himself with impressive performances at Sporting Lisbon.

Amorim's work at Sporting has not gone unnoticed, with his team's competitive edge and tactical astuteness making him an attractive option for Liverpool's hierarchy as they ponder their future managerial appointment.

With a reputation for cultivating young talent and playing an engaging brand of football, Amorim fits the profile of a Liverpool manager capable of ushering in a new era at Anfield.

As Liverpool's quest for a manager to succeed Jurgen Klopp intensifies, all indications suggest that while Kovac may be on a watch list, it's Amorim who the Reds are seriously considering to take the helm.
