Liverpool are almost certain to sign the defensive midfielder in the upcoming transfer windows. Richard Hughes and his team are assessing several players who could come in and hold the number 6 position down in Arne Slot’s team.
Signing a defensive midfielder is a priority for Liverpool and the club are prepared to act in January if one of their top midfield targets becomes available for a transfer in the middle of the season.
Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi continues to be on their radar. The Spaniard is said to be pushing for a move away from the Spanish club in the winter transfer window.
Liverpool are also exploring the possibility of signing Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton who is being chased by Arsenal and Manchester City ahead of January.
The Merseyside giants have also been heavily linked with a move for Atalanta midfielder Ederson who has been tipped to move to the Premier League sooner or later.
The Brazilian wants the transfer
The defensive midfielder has been putting in eye-catching performances for Atalanta over the last 18 months and several clubs are interested in signing him.
Liverpool have already been in contact with his representatives and according to TEAMTalk, the Brazilian is keen on a move to the Premier League as his next career step.
However, a move in January seems unlikely as he doesn’t want to leave Atalanta in the middle of the season.
He is keen to stay at Atalanta for the rest of the campaign and consider a move in the next summer transfer window.
It suits Atalanta as well who do not want to lose a player of his importance in January and would be open to offers next summer.
Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?
The Italian club want at least €60m at the end of the season before agreeing to sell Ederson.
Liverpool are keeping tabs on him but won’t get a clear run at him as Manchester United and Manchester City have also been in touch with his representatives.
Ederson doesn’t have a preference for his next club and is keen to consider all offers before deciding on his next destination at the end of the season.
