A Liverpool title hero is causing a massive headache for the club hierarchy, which could lead to his shock transfer exit in the ongoing window. The club are still keen to hold on to him, but the situation could develop rapidly in the coming weeks if both sides do not reach a compromise.
Liverpool have made a bold statement this summer through their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, who is set to cost them a British record transfer fee.
However, the Premier League champions want to keep their best players at the club, and are keen to reward a few of their top stars with new contracts and secure their future at Anfield.
But Liverpool do not want to overpay anyone, and a title hero is now threatening to blow up their transfer plans by getting ever closer to a shock exit this summer.

Ibrahima Konate has a year left on his contract, and the club are nowhere close to finalising an agreement over a new deal with his representatives.
There has been growing optimism that a new deal will be agreed upon soon, but journalist Graeme Bailey has claimed that the Frenchman has continued to demand massive wages.
He feels that if there is no breakthrough in talks soon, Liverpool could be forced to sell the centre-back later in the window to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.
“Liverpool have a big situation with Konate’s contract, and if a deal isn’t agreed in the next month, there’s a real prospect of him being sold”, Bailey told TBR Football.
“He’s demanding big money from Liverpool to re-sign — it’s less than what Trent Alexander-Arnold was offered, but it’s not an awful lot less.
“Does he genuinely want that deal, or is he doing that to get himself out on a free next summer?
“We’ll have to see how it plays out, but it’s a fascinating situation — but not for Liverpool fans, it’s an annoying situation for them.”
Paris Saint-Germain have their eyes on Konate, and Real Madrid are actively encouraging him to run down his contract and join them on a free transfer next year.
