“It’s a lot of ifs”: Slot refuses to comment on concerns over Salah’s £350,000 contract situation

Another season, another chance for Mohamed Salah to enhance his already glittering reputation in English football and he’s not wasting it.

Three games into the 2024/25 Premier League season and Salah already has three goals and three assists, according to Transfermarkt.

The only factor detracting from the beautiful football Liverpool are playing is Salah’s future at the club.

After keeping ahold of him during the summer transfer market, the question now becomes ‘will he stay and renew his contract or is this really his final season?’

The contract situation

As already stated, Salah has less than a year on his contract which is set to expire on June 30 2025.

The Egyptian is widely reported to earn £350,000 per week from his Liverpool wage and while the Reds do not have much history of re-signing players in their 30s, Salah is not someone that should be treated according to the norm.

His 214 goals and 92 assists aside, Salah has conducted himself with class and has never caused the club any unnecessary stress.

The form he is displaying this season is enough for most fans to believe he deserves a renewal.

Arne Slot responds to questions about Salah’s Liverpool future

Speaking after Liverpool’s fantastic 3-0 win over Erik ten Hag’s hapless Manchester United side, Slot was asked about Salah’s future.

“It’s a lot of ‘ifs’, but at this moment he’s one of ours and I’m really, really happy with him being one of ours. He plays really well,” he told reporters at his post-match press conference.

“I don’t talk about contracts from players, but I can talk for hours about how Mo played today. But are you interested in that?”

Slot continued: “He was impressive, like the first two games as well, but if we talk about an individual, you don’t do justice to all the other ones.

“I think today you saw a real good team performance, playing out from the back, high press, midfield that kept on running.

“So of course, all the attention goes to Mo and to Lucho, but that doesn’t do justice to the other nine and the ones that came in.”
