“If there is a deal to be done”: Sky Sports reporter issues major update on Liverpool’s transfer plans outside AXA

Liverpool will sign a new midfielder if the conditions are right as they look to build on their already impressive summer transfers.

Fabio Carvalho (19) was snapped up before the season even ended as part of their pursuit of the teenager in January.

The Reds wanted him in the winter window but ran out of time and although they would have loaned him back to Fulham anyway, the 19-year-old is an exciting signing.

Darwin Nunez (22) is the second signing of the summer but will be the biggest signing Liverpool will make without a doubt after Benfica agreed to a €100million package price.

Next up should be Aberdeen’s Calvin Ramsay (18), who will cost in the region of €10million although an agreement has yet to be reached on add-ons.

Some Liverpool fans online have already begun speculating about what could be next as the Reds are yet to sign a new central midfielder.

There was very serious interest in Aurelien Tchouameni (22) but Real Madrid won the race for his signature while Gavi (17) from Barcelona has also been the subject of an approach from Liverpool.

It’s no secret that Jurgen Klopp wants another midfielder but it’s unclear who they will target next with a host of names being mentioned.

The likes of Ibrahim Sangare, Matheus Nunes, Jude Bellingham, Vitinha and Fabio Vieira have all been on Liverpool’s radar for some time.

According to Sky Sports reporter Vinny O’Connor, Liverpool are ready to pounce on a deal to sign a new midfielder if the right conditions present themselves.

Speaking outside Axa Training Centre, O’Connor said: “If there is a deal to be done, then Liverpool have the scope to do it.

“But again there is potential for other players to leave.

“The likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – his future could be sorted out – Takumi Minamino.

“We know that Bournemouth want to take Nat Phillips on loan for another season.

“All that helps to create a bit more of a transfer kitty, albeit, they [Liverpool] are putting out that massive outlay on Darwin Nunez as well.

“There is scope for Liverpool to make further moves in the transfer window but again it’s one of those situations where if the right deal comes at the right time then Liverpool can do it.”
