Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool player Graeme Souness has backed Liverpool’s new star signing to be a huge success this season.
The Scotsman has tipped Liverpool’s £85m signing of Darwin Nunez to be a resounding success.
Given he scored five goals in five games during pre-season, it’s safe to say that Nunez has settled into life as a Liverpool player fairly comfortably so far.
His goal in the Community Shield against Manchester City has seen many people jump on the Nunez hype train – with Souness one of those admirers.
Souness on Nunez
Graeme Souness has said on talkSPORT (9:42am, August 5, 2022) that Darwin Nunez would be a big success at Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
“The boy, Nunez, I think he will be an outstanding success.” Souness claimed.
“In terms of his size and he wants to run forward without the ball, I think he would be a great addition.”
Nunez bagged 34 goals in all competitions last season and with a better team around him with better service – there’s no reason why he couldn’t score a hat-full of goals this year.

He then spoke on Sadio Mane, who left Liverpool for Bayern Munich this summer, and how big a miss he will be for the Reds after six successful years at the club.
“You wouldn’t want to play against Mane, he was a warrior. You would kick him and he’d come back – and then he’d start kicking you!”
“He would challenge you physically from the first minute to the last minute. He will be missed!”
Mane got off the mark in his first competitive game for Bayern netting in the German Super-Cup win over RB Leipzig.
