Liverpool’s star man Mohamed Salah has been nominated for a prestigious award that sees him go up against nine other sportsmen and women.
That award is the Sports Personality of the Year Award, and no, it’s not the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award, it’s presented by the ethnicity awards.
Last year’s winner was teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold; who won for being a major supporter of this summer’s Black Lives Matter Movement and recently launched ‘Football for Change’.
The award has been running since 2018 and it’s aim is to celebrate Black, Asian, and Ethnic Minority people who work tirelessly to make a positive impact on diversity in the public eye, in politics, and in the workplace.

Salah’s nomination and year of achievements
Salah enjoyed one of the best years of his career on the pitch as Liverpool took home two trophies and nearly secured a historic quadruple.
He won the Golden Boot and Playmaker awards in the Premier League and was the best player in the league last season.
Off the pitch, he’s become a leading figure for Muslim people around the world advocating for women’s equality in the Middle East, while displaying his faith prominently on the world stage.

Awards
The awards have run since 2018, with winners including Raheem Sterling as well as Alexander-Arnold.
He’s nominated alongside fellow PL players Bukayo Saka and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Other nominees include: British runner Mohamed Farah, as well as sprinter Alex Yee, British sprinter Dina Asher Smith, and South African cyclist Nicholas Dlamini, weightlifter Karenjeet Kaur, and British boxer Natasha Jonas.
The award is given by vote, as it depends on the public’s support for each of the nominees, and the award ceremony will be held on October 27.
