Liverpool star ready to “reach agreement” on personal terms but still no agreement with club on final fee

Sadio Mane is ready to reach an agreement with Bayern Munich over personal terms but the main sticking point is Liverpool’s valuation of the forward.

Bayern Munich have offered just £21million plus £4million in add-ons which Liverpool rejected.

They value him closer to €50m (£42m) and Fabrizio Romano says talks will continue this week to negotiate a fee to release Mane from his Liverpool contract.

His deal expires at the end of the 2022/2023 season but he wants to leave now in seek of a new challenge after winning every trophy available to an English club.

Reporting on Twitter, Romano writes: “Sadio Mané would be ready to reach an agreement with FC Bayern on personal terms, not an issue.

“But there’s still no agreement with Liverpool on the potential fee.

“Talks between the two clubs will continue in the next days.”

It remains to be seen how much Liverpool get for Mane but they should not compromise too much even if the forward has just a year left on his contract because he remains one of the most elite players in the world.

His importance to Liverpool alone is worth the €50million they value him at and so new sporting director Julian Ward needs to make sure the Reds get their money’s worth.

He scored 23 goals this season and while it’s not impossible to find someone who can better that, his role in the Liverpool XI must be filled by someone who can also beat their man, make runs in behind defences and can compete aerially in the box.

I have no doubt Liverpool will find a good replacement but it’s still nerve-wracking to think he may not be at the club next season.
