Liverpool have had a hard time trying to hold on to their players over the past year.
The Reds maintained their stance in the January window as they rejected multiple offers. Saudi Pro League clubs presented mega offers to Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez. While Real Madrid had a low ball offer for Trent Alexander-Arnold rejected. Liverpool kept almost every first team player after the window ended, and insisted he is happy with the current squad.
The Reds loaned out Jayden Danns, which reduced their depth in the striker’s position. Danns joined Stoke City on loan. However, Slot made an interesting addition to the first team, as he stated that James McConnell will be part of the squad for the rest of the campaign.

Barcelona made failed move for Liverpool star

Liverpool have decided to wait until the summer transfer window to make changes to the squad. The reds will factor in the possible departures of key players like Salah, Trent and Van Dijk. Multiple players have been shortlisted to replace the trio if they decide to leave Anfield.
In the January transfer window, the reds worked on loan moves. Calvin Ramsay, Stefan Bajcetic, Dominic Corness, Kaide Gordon and Jayden Danns left the club on temporary deals. Bajcetic and Gordon had to have their initial loan deals cancelled to arrange new ones.
Stefan Bajcetic left Red Bull Salzburg, and is now on loan at Las Palmas. It has now been revealed that Barcelona tried to sign the young midfielder during the summer. Hansi Flick’s side reportedly sent a loan offer after they lost Marc Bernal and Gavi to long term injuries. According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona proposed a €4million loan fee without a buy option. However, Financial Fair Play issues cut the deal short.
Reds have to keep an eye on Bajcetic
Liverpool have to closely monitor the young midfielder. He is already high on multiple transfer lists, and at the end of this season, will have less than 18 months on his current deal. In 2027, he will be free to negotiate a pre-contract. Arne Slot will have a dilemma on his hands. He already has a stacked midfield, with Harvey Elliot and Curtis Jones fighting to earn a spot in the starting lineup.
Bajcetic’s loan deal will reveal a lot about him, his performance could decide how he will be used next season. Liverpool have a long summer ahead of them.
