Reports claim Liverpool star will never play for his club again

Despite not signing anyone in January, Liverpool were busy with departures.

Arne Slot and Richard Hughes assessed the team a week before the deadline. Liverpool had secured their spot in the next round of the Champions League, and decided to rest players. Slot rotated up to nine first team stars as the reds went away to PSV. Liverpool youngsters James McConnell, Tyler Morton and Trey Nyoni all featured in that game.

The reds still managed to top the Champions League group phase after the loss. Liverpool will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16.

After the PSV tie, Arne Slot and Richard Hughes made some decisions concerning the first team squad.

Eight players left Anfield during the January window. Marcelo Pitaluga, Tom Hill and Luca Furnell-Gill left on permanent deals. While Calvin Ramsay, Stefan Bajcetic, Dominic Corness, Kaide Gordon and Jayden Danns left on loan deals. Arne Slot also made the decision to keep James McConnell with the first team for the rest of the season.

Liverpool let Jayden Danns leave on loan to Sunderland in the Championship. However, during the medical it was discovered that the young striker was dealing with a back problem. The deal went through on deadline day, and Danns was to rehabilitate at the AXA Training Centre.

A story from Roker Report now claims Jayden Danns may be out for the rest of the season. The 19-year old has yet to join Sunderland since January, and there is little hope that he will feature this season. Sunderland are pushing for Premier League promotion. Their ambition in the January window saw them sign two high level European talents. Enzo Le Fee joined from Europa League side AS Roma, and Wilson Isidor joined from Zenit St. Petersburg.

The Black Cats currently sit in fourth place in the Championship, eight points off automatic promotion.

Worrying news about Jayden Danns

It was a positive sign when the back injury was flagged during the medical. Discovering it could have saved Danns young career. But now, seeing the extent of the injury should be a huge worry for Liverpool. The 19-year old is yet to kick a ball in over a month, and there is no official diagnosis of the problem. Liverpool had high hopes when Danns penned a new deal, but this injury will affect a lot of things going forward.
