The Trent Alexander-Arnold saga at Liverpool is not going away anytime soon.
Liverpool have done their best this season to keep the squad together despite the rumours. The Reds are yet to agree new deals with three of their best players. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk are all set to leave the club on a free this summer.
The trio have been pivotal to the club’s campaign so far. Mohamed Salah has been in great form and is a candidate for the Ballon D’Or, and Virgil Van Dijk has rediscovered his old form. Trent Alexander-Arnold has bounced back from a ”down” season last year.
Arne Slot deserves a lot of credit for getting the best out of this team. Not everyone expected the club to play this well so far. Topping the Champions League group phase, and leading the league in February is not an easy feat.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk have hinted that they could consider staying at Anfield if the contract terms are right. Salah is very pleased with how the season is going, an expects to end it with silverware:
“It feels good to be fair! Scoring goals, team winning, it’s an incredible feeling. But I said it many times before that my main target this season is to win the Premier League with the team. We are going in the right direction so hopefully we can keep going like this.”
Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly been in talks with Real Madrid since January. The Spanish giants made an inquiry at the start of the window, which was shot down by the Reds. According to the Echo, Madrid will not make any late moves in the transfer window. The Champions League holders are content with waiting till the summer to sign him on a free transfer.
A report revealed that Trent and Madrid are close to an agreement, with a deal ‘98% complete’.
Reds fans can breathe easy
Liverpool fans do not need to worry about Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving the club soon. However, the Reds now need to do everything possible to keep him at Anfield long term. Reports claim Liverpool are waiting till the summer to make a decision on the current renewals. There is slim hope, but a deal can still be done in the coming months.
