Real Madrid prepared to give Liverpool £100m lifeline on Florian Wirtz

Liverpool have a tough run of games coming up, including a big one against Real Madrid. The Reds’ current form has sparked a lot of conversations in the fanbase.

Many are still on Arne Slot’s side but some people are losing faith in the Dutchman. After Wednesday night’s defeat to Crystal Palace, Liverpool have just one win in their last seven games.

Their upcoming schedule does not make things easier; they face Aston Villa, Manchester City and Real Madrid in their next three games. After a solid start to the campaign, the last month has been full of disappointing results.

Former Liverpool man thinks Real Madrid could be in for first team star

It has not helped that the Reds’ summer signings have been largely underperforming so far. Outside Hugo Ekitike, no one can really make a case that any of the summer signings have exceeded expectations. Injuries have been an issue for Alexander Isak, but he has not earned his price tag on the field. Jeremie Frimpong has had a mixed bag of performances.

Milos Kerkez has been one of the more disappointing signings, with fans calling for the return of Andrew Robertson. Marquee signing Florian Wirtz has picked up after a slow start to the season, but fans are yet to see his best.

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has revealed that Real Madrid could be in for a shock move for Wirtz after just a few months into his Reds career. The German thinks that Xabi Alonso is keen on a reunion with the £116m star who was the key to his Bayer Leverkusen team – believing Liverpool would be prepared to take an early loss and could be tempted of an offer of around £100m.

A future move very unlikely for Wirtz

There is a lot for the German international to prove, but selling a summer signing just one year into his move is almost impossible. Despite people criticizing the transfer, the 22-year old has been picking up some form recently.

Florian Wirtz has not been a bad signing, but he needs to get into positions to directly contribute to goals. Part of the responsibility falls to Arne Slot who decides to play the attacking midfielder in deeper areas. If Liverpool can find a balance and fit Wirtz into this team, he will produce some magic as the season goes along.
