Real Madrid confident about Liverpool star transfer

Real Madrid are proving to be big challengers for Liverpool in the transfer market. Recently, they signed Trent Alexander-Arnold, and now they seem pretty keen on Liverpool target Adam Wharton.

Michael Olise is also on the books, but there are other clubs that are trying to challenge the Reds for the player. However, Bayern Munich is looking forward to tying down the French international in Bavaria with a new contract and increased salary.

For Wharton, Crystal Palace aren’t very keen on selling the Englishman, but a big number might persuade the Eagles. Although a winter transfer seems unlikely, as manager Oliver Glasner will make sure not to let any big names leave under his tenure.

Liverpool almost signed Marc Guéhi in the summer transfer window, but Glasner’s reaction was one of the main contributors towards the offer’s downfall.

In the closing hours of the summer window, Crystal Palace rejected their skipper’s transfer following a fallout between the club’s manager and chairman.

The Austrian manager might follow the same in January, as he won’t be keen on losing his precious gem midway through the season.

Maybe a replacement might hit the prompts, but looking at Palace’s ambition in the summer, it seems unlikely.

In our previous report, we explained how talks between Konaté’s agent and Liverpool are ongoing at the moment. Unfortunately for the Reds, Marca claims that the conversations have ended in bad faith.

Arne Slot was looking forward to holding onto the French defender, but now it seems unlikely that there will be any further talks. Real Madrid are confident in securing Ibrahima’s services as they are ready to wait till next summer for a free transfer.

The Reds, however, won’t be keen on letting such a big name leave for free. Added to that pressure regarding defensive depth, Liverpool have only three senior centre-backs to deploy at the moment.

This poses a big challenge to Slot, although he seems pretty confident regarding the situation. The Dutchman believes 18-year-old Giovanni Leoni is sufficient to fill the defensive gaps, as he sees the Italian ready for the Premier League.

However, if a Konaté departure follows, this makes a Marc Guéhi transfer mandatory for the Reds as the Frenchman will leave a huge gap in the defensive structure. Guéhi will also be available for free next summer.
