Liverpool failed to sign the defensive midfielder they wanted in the summer and Slot repurposed Gravenberch to start at the base of the Reds midfielder.
He has already been called one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season and has looked elite at the heart of the Reds midfield.

Jan Mulder has been taken aback by the kind of football he has seen from Gravenberch at the start of the season in a Liverpool shirt.
He stressed that everyone must flock to Anfield, not for the stadium or Liverpool, but to watch the Dutch midfielder in action for the Merseyside giants.
The Dutchman insisted that Gravenberch has been beautiful to watch and some of his movements in the middle of the park made his jaw drop in recent games.
“Everyone, go to Liverpool and buy a ticket for Anfield. Not because of that stadium, but to see Ryan Gravenberch play”, Mulder said on De Volkskrant via FCUpdate.nl.
“I find his style to be of rare beauty.
“The way he played against Manchester United and Germany recently, that really is the highest class. That soft movement, just made your jaw drop.”
