As the Premier League season progresses, the race for the Golden Boot is already heating up, with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah emerging as the two main contenders.
However, while Salah has started strong, it appears Haaland may already be pulling away in the goalscoring charts.
Haaland has been in sensational form, netting seven goals in just three league games, including back-to-back hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham. In contrast, Salah has scored three goals in three matches, which, while impressive, leaves him trailing behind the prolific Norwegian striker.
With such a commanding early lead, pundits are starting to make their predictions, and Tony Cascarino has shared his thoughts on who will come out on top.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Cascarino firmly backed Haaland to claim the Golden Boot for a second consecutive season, believing that the Manchester City forward is well on his way to breaking the 30-goal mark once again.
Cascarino explained: “Last season, Erling got 27 goals in the Premier League. Next best was four behind. Mo does look sharp, but I just don’t think Mo can get those numbers that Haaland will get. He’s a centre-forward, he takes penalties, and while Salah takes penalties too, I don’t think he can match Haaland’s numbers.”
The pundit went on to predict that while Salah is capable of surpassing 20 goals this season, reaching the 30-goal mark may be out of reach for the Liverpool winger, especially given the way Liverpool is playing under their current system.

Despite Cascarino’s prediction, Salah remains a formidable contender in the Golden Boot race.
While Haaland’s goal-scoring prowess is hard to match, Salah’s experience and consistency make him a dangerous challenger.
However, rather than focusing solely on the individual accolade, Salah may have bigger ambitions for his final season at Liverpool.
With rumours suggesting this could be his last campaign at Anfield, Salah will likely be aiming for team success, with the ultimate goal of securing more silverware for Liverpool, including a potential second Premier League title.
His form will be crucial to Liverpool’s chances, and while the Golden Boot might slip away, Salah’s influence on the Reds’ pursuit of trophies is undeniable.
Though Haaland looks like the favourite, Salah remains a force to be reckoned with, and the battle for both individual and team glory is far from over.
