PSG have just accidentally handed Liverpool a huge transfer boost in hunt for new no.6

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly cooled their interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich, potentially giving Liverpool and other clubs a significant advantage in the race to sign the Germany international.

According to Caught Offside, PSG had previously monitored Kimmich due to his contract status, but recent developments suggest the French giants are satisfied with their current midfield options following the signing of Joao Neves from Benfica.

While there had been renewed talk of Kimmich moving to Paris, it now appears that other suitors, including Liverpool, may have a clearer path to securing the 28-year-old’s signature as he edges closer to free agency.

Liverpool’s potential move for Kimmich

Kimmich’s contract with Bayern Munich expires next summer, and although a renewal remains a possibility, there have been no concrete updates on those negotiations.

This uncertainty has made Kimmich an attractive target for several top clubs, and Liverpool are among those keenly watching the situation.

Liverpool’s interest in strengthening their midfield is well-known, particularly after their failed attempt to sign Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi in the summer.

Despite Zubimendi turning down an offer from the Reds, he remains highly valued by Liverpool’s manager Arne Slot. However, with Kimmich potentially becoming available, the German could offer a high-quality and affordable alternative for the Merseyside club.

PSG’s midfield focus shifts away from Kimmich

PSG still admire Kimmich’s talent, but he is no longer considered a priority for their midfield restructuring. Luis Enrique, PSG’s head coach, appears content with his current options after securing the services of Joao Neves.

The only scenario that could reignite PSG’s interest in Kimmich would be if one of their midfielders were to leave.

At one point, it seemed like Fabian Ruiz might be on his way out, with links to Arsenal, but that move never materialized. According to sources, Enrique is not planning any further changes to his midfield lineup at this stage, leaving the door open for clubs like Liverpool to make their move.

With PSG stepping back, Liverpool and possibly other Premier League clubs now have a greater chance of landing Joshua Kimmich. As his contract situation at Bayern remains unresolved, Kimmich could become one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market next summer, and Liverpool’s continued search for midfield reinforcements could make him an ideal target.
