PSG are “the big favourite” to sign £300,000/week Liverpool star – strong interest and high salary causing Anfield doubt

Paris Saint-Germain Sadio Mane

Sadio Mane has had his head turned by Paris Saint-Germain with the Ligue 1 club “the big favourite” to sign the forward that is demanding £300,000/week to stay at Anfield.

The AFCON champion and Balon D’Or candidate is being linked with a move away from the club more and more but it’s unclear whether it’s a tactic to distract and cause unrest ahead of the Champions League final in Paris.

According to a report from 90Min, Liverpool are set to make an offer to Mane to stay at the club beyond his 2023 contract expiry date with the Senegal star demanding wages that would make him the highest-paid at the club.

With wage demands of £300,000 per week, Fabrizio Romano has reported that Liverpool “will contact” Mane in the “coming days” to discuss a renewal.

Of course, it’s likely the “coming days” is just a cryptic way of saying negotiations will be held after the season ends with a Premier League title and Champions League trophy on the line in Liverpool’s next two games.

Jurgen Klopp’s side faces Wolves on Sunday in the season finale of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign which will decide whether or not Liverpool or Manchester City will win the league.

Mane will undoubtedly play a starring role on the final day with Mohamed Salah likely to be rested in hopes of the Egyptian being fit to play in the Champions League final in two weeks’ time after he suffered a groin injury in the victorious FA Cup final.

Christian Falk reported earlier this week that Mane’s agents are already in talks with Bayern Munich with his future yet to be decided but it seems PSG are leading the line to sign him.

A fresh update from Falk states Paris Saint-Germain are “the big favourite” to land Sadio Mane this summer with a major salary offer mentioned.

The 30-year-old is reportedly hesitating to sign a new contract with Liverpool due to the salary offer and “high interest” from PSG.

Kylian Mbappe is set to leave PSG this summer and they need to replace him.

Sadio Mane

Liverpool should not let Mane leave this summer unless a huge bid is made and the player wants to go but even then, Klopp can still get so much quality out of the former Southampton star.

He has 22 goals and 5 assists this season and has been reborn in a false nine role since Luis Diaz arrived from Porto in the winter transfer market.

Selling him should be a last resort but I speak for most Liverpool fans when I say the club should fight tooth and nail to keep him this summer.
