“We’ll see what happens”: €70m superstar opens door to Liverpool move- agent talks held , club notified of interest

Aurelien Tchouameni

Priority Liverpool transfer target, Aurelien Tchouameni, has left the door to a move to Anfield open by refusing to deny that he could leave the club.

Speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool has increased dramatically this week with virtually every report on his future suggesting that the Reds lead the race to secure his signature.

Real Madrid have conceded to Liverpool with Los Blancos forced to sell a midfielder before they can sign Tchouameni which has firmly put Jurgen Klopp’s side in the driving seat.

Anfield representatives have already held talks with the player’s agent while AS Monaco have been notified of the Reds’ interest in signing their powerhouse midfielder this summer.

These reports are followed by claims it’s “Advantage Liverpool” while one journalist said “Liverpool is calling” just to add even more oil to the fire that is the Reds’ pursuit of the 22-year-old.

Tchouameni has done very little to quell suggestions that he will leave AS Monaco and refused to deny he will leave the club at the end of the season during a post-open training interview.

Speaking after an open training session held by AS Monaco at the Stade Louis II on Wednesday, Aurelien Tchouameni refused to close the door on a summer move which could see him join Liverpool.

When asked about signs at the training session which read “Aurelien, don’t leave”, the player claimed the messages make him feel proud but did nothing to quell AS Monaco fans’ fears that he is set to leave the club.

In response to supporters’ fears, Tchouameni said: “It’s true that there are a lot of people that are hoping to see me stay. That makes me happy because it shows that I’m doing good work.”

He continued, “As I’ve said before, what is certain is that there is one more match in Monégasque colours against Lens and after that, we’ll see what happens.”

The final four words of his statement leaves the door to a likely move away from the Ligue 1 club and time will tell whether or not that move will take him to Liverpool this summer.

Jurgen Klopp would be more than capable of turning him into a world-class player by making use of his ability to read play and intercept attacks as they start.

More impressively, the 22-year-old would harness his attacking potential at Liverpool where he would have the likes of Luis Diaz, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to supply when winning the ball high up the pitch.

Tchouameni has a very bright future and as I wrote on Wednesday, Ibrahima Konate could provide the blueprint for success at Liverpool to his compatriot.

Bedding in slowly in Klopp’s demanding system is important but it yields incredible results and the likes of Andy Robertson are further testament to this approach.

The Reds are brilliant at not placing too much pressure on new signings to perform, showing them they have a long term future at the club.

I fully believe Tchouameni could turn into a true superstar at Anfield.
