Newcastle’s Pursuit of Yoane Wissa Faces Liverpool & Al-Nassr Interest.
Newcastle’s Tough Summer in the Transfer Market
Newcastle United have endured a challenging summer, frequently competing with league rivals for their top transfer targets. One of the latest names linked with the Magpies is Brentford striker Yoane Wissa. While losing out on one or two players is common, Newcastle’s struggles have been more extensive this window.
Reports suggest that Liverpool are also monitoring Wissa’s situation, as the Congolese forward appears keen on leaving West London. This added competition could make Newcastle’s pursuit even more complicated.

Liverpool’s Interest Adds Pressure
According to The Times, Newcastle submitted a £25 million bid for Wissa, which Brentford rejected. While Sky Sports reports that a Liverpool move is unlikely, the Reds’ interest still increases the pressure on Newcastle to move quickly.
Adding another twist, Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr are also keen, especially after missing out on Darwin Núñez to Al-Hilal.
Al-Nassr Join the Race
French journalist Loïc Tanzi has reported that Neom, Al-Nassr, and Tottenham are among the clubs tracking the Brentford marksman. While Brentford’s asking price has not been disclosed, it is understood to be high. Al-Nassr’s interest could force Newcastle to accelerate negotiations.
The urgency has grown as Newcastle need attacking reinforcements, especially with Alexander Isak preferring a move to Liverpool.

Wissa’s Impressive Record
The former Lorient striker has scored 45 Premier League goals, including 12 in the 2023/24 season and 19 in 2024/25. His consistent performances alongside Bryan Mbeumo have drawn interest from several top clubs.
Newcastle’s Last Push
Newcastle are expected to push hard to finalise the Yoane Wissa transfer. Personal terms are reportedly not an issue, but Brentford’s valuation will be the decisive factor. Having already missed out on Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Šeško, and Bryan Mbeumo, Newcastle will be desperate not to lose another key target.
