Liverpool will need to clear out some players this summer.
The reds continue to plan a revamp of the squad after events this season. Liverpool made just two permanent first team additions this season. Arne Slot only used one of these players throughout the season. The Dutch coach had to make do with the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.
Slot did a very good job this season, and was close to winning the treble. However, the lack of depth in the squad cost the reds in crucial games. Liverpool did not have any goal threats to call on off the bench against Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle. Arne Slot will work with Richard Hughes this summer to bring in new faces.

Liverpool set to make profit as club targets double swoop

The reds could lose a few players this summer. Come the end of the season, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk could all leave at the end of their contracts. All three have yet to confirm their futures at Anfield, but Trent has reportedly decided on his next club.
Liverpool will also have to make a decision when it comes to Ibrahima Konate and Caomhin Kelleher. The duo are both out of contract in 2026. While Kelleher is a target for Chelsea and could leave this summer, Konate is yet to sign a new deal with the club.
Two players that could be on their way out of the club are Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott. According to Give Me Sport, Newcastle are planning a double swoop for the Liverpool stars. Jota has been out injured for most of the season, which according to reports, has frustrated Arne Slot. The Dutch coach is actively pushing for more attacking signings, and Jota could be one of the casualties. Harvey Elliott has also been heavily been linked with a move away. The midfielder has been barely used this season, only playing a total of 21 games. It looks like he will not be in the club’s plans for next season and could leave.
Newcastle would have to pay around €100million to sign both players this summer.
