Why Liverpool must complete bargain move for £49.5M-rated Premier League midfielder- Player wants to leave immediately

Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for a midfielder during the duration of the transfer window so far.

The likes of Matheus Nunes, Nicolo Barella and Jude Bellingham have been strong candidates to join Jurgen Klopp's side.

With the new season just a week and a half away, there isn't much time to secure players.

However, if Liverpool still wants a midfielder they should look toward Youri Tielemans of Leicester City - a player perfectly suited to play under Klopp and he's a player who wants to leave.

Latest reports on Tielemans

Liverpool haven't been directly linked with the 25-year-old but his contract runs out next summer - meaning from January clubs can sign a pre-contract with the player if no new deal is agreed.

Given he's valued at £49.5M, Leicester will surely want to recoup some of the transfer fee - with the midfielder sure to be available around the £30M mark - a fee far less than the likes of Bellingham, Barella and Nunes.

"But it’s up to Arsenal to submit a proposal & go strong for him. He’s waiting for Arsenal since April.”

Would he suit Liverpool?

Tielemans is a versatile, experienced and quality midfielder who would be capable of playing anywhere in Liverpool's midfield - across a two/three-man midfield which would give Klopp real flexibility.

He fits in the mould of former Red Georginio Wijnaldum; he's a similar build physically, he's comfortable on the ball and has an eye for a goal.

He managed seven goals and five assists across all competitions last year and he famously scored the winner in the FA Cup final against Chelsea in 2020 with a brilliant long-range effort.

His stats illustrate an all-round midfielder. Defensively, he averaged 2.3 tackles and 1.1 clearances per game in the PL. In terms of passing, he averaged 1.2 key passes and 2.3 long balls per 90 as well as 1.8 shots per game.

What is telling is his stats when he plays for Belgium, a team who typically dominates. In three UEFA Nations League A group games, he averaged 2.3 key passes, 4 long balls, 1/3 interceptions and an 89% pass success rate.

Tielemans is a vastly experienced player for his age having totalled 50 caps for his country and 400 club appearances for Monaco, Anderlecht and Leicester City. His performances for his country show he can step up to a higher level and that could be at Liverpool for a cut price.
