£76.5m Liverpool star likes Instagram post from fan after huge updates from Fabrizio and Carl Markham

Despite the transfer window being in full swing, there couldn't be any less to talk about on the transfer front.

The only real topic for Liverpool fans to talk about as far as transfers are concerned is that the Reds are once again required to sell to buy.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are spending massive sums to sign world-class players like Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

Then Carl Markham reported that Liverpool are unlikely to make any new signings this summer. In short, this summer is not going so well from an Anfield persuasion.

This prompted a friend of mine to post on Instagram complaining about Liverpool's current situation and while it prompted Luis Garcia and Jose Enrique to respond in the comments, the real talking point was that Sadio Mane, who is worth £76.5m, liked the post.

This really just underlines how FSG's approach to being owners of Liverpool Football Club seems to be more and more outdated.

You can argue that it's a sustainable way to run the club and in a climate where funds have run dry due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has served the club well, but moving forward, it's difficult to see how it will be sustainable.

Jurgen Klopp's contract expires in 2024 and while fans don't want to think about him leaving the club, there isn't another manager in the world that can succeed with the net spend that he has.

Many supporters feel that FSG's time as owners of the club is coming to an end and while I have defended them before, after the Super League debacle, I think their time at the club will soon come to an end.

What the future will look like without the Americans is unclear and while I don't want Liverpool to turn into Manchester City or Chelsea, I want to see the Reds compete financially.

Right now, the likes of Aston Villa are routinely outspending Liverpool and that is simply pathetic.
