Fabrizio Romano: LFC are scouting 'interesting' star worth £50m - bid yet to be made

Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool are scouting Yves Bissouma but any reports that they have made a bid are wide of the mark which matches our information.

Speaking on his podcast Here We Go (18:47), the journalist said: "There are a lot of rumours about Bissouma. Just to clarify, Bissouma is a fantastic player for Brighton.

"He is one of the players on the list for Arsenal but is not at the first position. Talking about Liverpool, they are scouting him because they consider him like an interesting player for the future but there are no bids, no negotiations for Liverpool.

"They are not (actively) working to sign Bissouma - scouting is one thing. Signing him is another thing."

We reported exclusively on the 28th of May that Bissouma is a person of interest but after hearing that he will cost in the region of £50million, they have taken a step back for the time being.

The Brighton star is the ideal Wijnaldum replacement and 'the player and his advisers are aware of Liverpool's interest in signing the 24-year-old Mali international, with a £35million deal believed to be under discussion.'

With a deal for Ibrahima Konate across the line, Bissouma is the next player that the Reds should try to get over the line after a disappointing season. A failed Premier League title defence has Liverpool fired up and ready to return next season to reclaim their crown.

Bissouma is a player that has been identified as someone that can help make that happen and is expected to help ensure that Wijnaldum's departure isn't felt too keenly after the Dutchman ensconced himself in that no.8 role in Jurgen Klopp's midfield.

An important thing to note is that Wijnaldum and Bissouma are not the same type of player by any means. The Dutchman is a ball carrier while his potential replacement is more of a dribbler.

The Liverpool no.5 favours making late runs into the box while Brighton's no.8 loves taking long-range shots which vary in success rate.

Gini is quite safe with his passing whereas Bissouma takes a lot more risk with his pass selection - this could either see the Reds return to a more direct attacking approach or suffer due to more regular turnovers.

The Mali international is definitely the more exciting player purely due to his love for dribbling.

His combative style coupled with his dribbling and shooting make him a very interesting player and one that Liverpool fans will certainly love.

Wijnaldum will always have a special place in Liverpool fans' hearts due to his brace against Barcelona in the Champions League-winning season in 2019 and for his tireless displays during the Premier League-winning season in 2020.

That said, Bissouma is one hell of a player and he'll look great in Red.
