Jurgen Klopp's Jadon Sancho decision as Liverpool attack glitters

When Manchester United were in for Jadon Sancho in the summer of 2021, there was an outcry among Liverpool fans who felt the Englishman could be a huge success at Anfield.

That theory will remain untested but it seems as though Jurgen Klopp made the right decision not to pursue his signature.

He joined Manchester United for a fee reported to be in the region of £73 million - a transfer that has been steadily falling into decay.

Erik ten Hag seems to have given the now 23-year-old every allowance in a bid to coax the £275,000/week attacker back into form.

Jurgen Klopp's Jadon Sancho choice vindicated

The Mirror reports that Sancho has been "completely shut out at Manchester United" with ten Hag issuing the English forward an ultimatum.

Having been "exiled", the forward has refused to apologise to his manager for comments made on social media which contradicted ten Hag's claim that Sancho was made to train with the United Academy due to "poor training performances."

Liverpool, who under Klopp have displayed incredible squad morale and unity, are flying at the moment.

The success enjoyed under the German coach has been built on research the club does into the character of potential signings with players like Sancho not making the cut.

A team which bases its identity on hard work and sacrifice, Liverpool have no room for bad attitudes.

The Merseysiders are already seven points clear of their rivals in the league table this season.

That gap will expand rapidly if ten Hag cannot steady his ship with controversy not far from Old Trafford these days.

Klopp's Liverpool attack is reaching new heights

The summer transfer talk was dominated by speculation over new midfield signings and it's safe to say the midfield rebuild was a resounding success based on the small sample of games this season.

Seven games isn't enough to draw conclusions over Liverpool's chances of winning the Premier League.

It is, however, enough to clearly see that the Reds' midfield will no longer be a hindrance.

In fact, in the early stages of the season, it has been the perfect springboard for the glittering attackers at Anfield to get to work.

So far this season, Liverpool have scored 15 Premier League goals with Mohamed Salah leading the way with seven league goal contributions.

After plenty of criticism last season, Darwin Nunez is also becoming a regular appearance on the scoresheet and with this his second full season at the club, expectations are high.

If the Uruguayan can build on his four goals and two assists in all competitions, his confidence will only grow.

Who are Liverpool's top scorers this season so far?

Despite the season still being fresh, Liverpool have been plundering goals already and look set to continue.

The top scorers so far this season are:

  1. Mohamed Salah (4)
  2. Darwin Nunez (4)
  3. Luis Diaz (3)
  4. Diogo Jota (2)
  5. Cody Gakpo (1)
  6. Dominik Szoboszlai (1)
  7. Andy Robertson (1)

There's fierce competition to be Liverpool's top scorer this season but it's difficult to see anyone edging Salah out over a full season.
