No ‘surprise factor’ about Liverpool, insists Bologna head coach

Liverpool are set to be in European action tonight when they will host Serie A side Bologna in the second Champions League game of their season at Anfield.

The Reds are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League standings following their win over Wolves away from home at the weekend.

With five wins and 15 points from their opening six league games, Liverpool are emerging as real title contenders this season despite Gary Neville insisting they are not in the Premier League title race.

Their focus is now set to shift towards the Champions League where they won their first game at the San Siro when they beat AC Milan 3-1 a couple of weeks back.

Liverpool will host Champions League novices Bologna at Anfield tonight and are heavy favourites to score three more points against another Italian opposition.

However, Bologna coach Vincenzo Italiano has insisted that his side won’t go down without a fight on Merseyside tonight.

Liverpool won’t surprise us – Vincenzo Italiano

Reds midfielder Alexis Mac Allister claimed that Liverpool have not seen much of Bologna and he personally never watched any of their games.

However, Italiano insisted that he and his players have seen a lot of Liverpool and their games to prepare for the big Champions League fixture and stressed that the Merseyside giants won’t hold any surprise for him or his team.

He stressed that his side will give respect to Liverpool and their quality but they won’t shy away from playing their game and putting up a fight against the Reds.

“I don’t know [whether it’s an advantage that they have not seen much of us]. Unlike them, we have seen a lot of images, both with the staff and with the boys”, Italiano said in a press conference.

“We saw the game against Milan and what they are capable of, we know there are champions in the squad.

“Our surprise factor is not there.

“We have to take the field with respect, but not the respect that makes you shy and doesn’t allow you to complete two consecutive passes.

“We want to be an opponent who knows how to fight back.”
