Return of £220,000/week superstar is huge news for Liverpool fans - Reds could finally put bad spell behind them

A difficult start to the season has been further rammed home by an extensive injury list.

Mainly in midfield, the Reds have been without several senior first-team members.

Amongst the injury crisis, potentially the most important cog in the machine has been absent, Thiago Alcantara.

The magic of Thiago Alcantara and what he brings to the side

The majestic Spaniard is a calming figure in the middle of the park while setting an example with his tireless work rate.

The Liverpool star is arguably the most technically gifted member of Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Furthermore, Thiago is far from afraid of getting stuck in and putting himself about.

When the most naturally gifted guy in the lineup can get his hands dirty, there is no excuse for anyone else to do otherwise.

It’s no surprise that Liverpool fans have been clamouring for the return of the 31-year-old for the past weeks.

Awful midfield performances over the past weeks have displayed the importance of Thiago in the setup.

Tactically, the midfield maestro knows his role and carries it out to perfection more often than not.

His partnership with Fabinho has been well documented as the pair have a sensational record when starting games together.

While James Milner and Jordan Henderson have filled in for the absent star, performances have been very gung-ho and all over the place.

Rarely vacating his midfield hub, Thiago is able to control the game from deep while also assisting in preventing counter-attacks.

While it is unclear who the third man will be in midfield, based on performances this season, it should be Harvey Elliott.

Elliott has been impressive going forward and has shown an abundance of confidence on the ball for such a young player.

However, defensive stability is not something that comes naturally to the young lion.

Perhaps Thiago can provide the cover alongside Fabinho to allow Elliott to play in a more advanced role against Ajax on Tuesday.

Spaniard set for second start of the season

During last week’s horror show in Naples, Liverpool fans that were brave enough to continue watching until the end will have witnessed a brief cameo from Thiago.

Having been absent since the opening day of the season against Fulham, the Spanish international returned as a substitute.

An impressive showing in a struggling team had fans feeling a sense of hope once again for the games to come.

Arguably the Red’s best player on the night, despite being brought on in the second half, Thiago proved why he must start the next game.

Ajax travel to Anfield on Tuesday night in the Champions League with Jurgen Klopp looking to get his first points on the board.

Should Thiago be brought straight back into the starting eleven and who should be the third man in midfield for the Reds?
