Liverpool's £131M target flirts with the Reds after comments from Liverpool legend

Liverpool's £131M target has been flirting with the club amidst transfer rumours linking with the club as he commented on Steven Gerrard's praise of the 19-year-old.

Jude Bellingham has been the topic of conversation for Liverpool fans because of the rumoured move to Anfield, but just as the rumours begin to circulate again so does a video of him reacting to Steven Gerrard's comments on him.

Gerrard was highly complimentary of the midfielder and the video was seen by Bellingham, whose reaction was one of respect and also child-like in the way you would view one of your heroes - which Gerrard clearly is for the 19-year-old.

It's only added fuel to the fire and the midfielder is certainly looking more and more comfortable and open to the idea of Liverpool.

Gerrard's praise of Jude Bellingham

Speaking to Channel 4 ahead of England's UEFA Nations League match against Italy last Friday evening, Bellingham discussed the clip and his response was heart-warming as he talks passionately about one of his heroes.

“Someone sent that clip to me and it was a bit surreal. I watched it three or four times and had to calm myself down.”

“When one of your heroes says something like that about you it's a good indication of where you're at. I scored six last season and looking back I could've got more.”

Rumours of a move look to point towards a £131M price tag set by Borussia Dortmund, with competition expect to come from Europe's elite with Real Madrid and Manchester City interested.

Other reports have claimed that he could be available for just £83M, some £50M less than the earlier reports. But he could be available for that price next summer, but only if the fee is paid upfront.

This shouldn't be an issue for the top sides as that is certainly a major discount on what is undoubtedly a top-class player in the making.

Although Manchester City boasts a strong relationship with the club after signing Erling Haaland and Manuel Akanji - both of those were for lower fees than you would have expected and they'll be hoping to get Bellingham at a cut price as well.

The race for Bellingham is on with Liverpool firmly in the hunt but it will come down to the player's personal preference next summer.
