Liverpool will be linked with '20-30' midfielders over the next few months according to transfer expert

This summer saw the Reds miss out on Monaco's Aurélien Tchouaméni and not move for another midfielder until signing Arthur Melo on a season-long loan.

Fans were upset with the lack of midfield signings and that was made worse when Thiago, Jordan Henderson and Curtis Jones all began the season with injuries. Causing James Milner to regularly start at 36 years old.

Now it seems they will look to change that with Romano predicting them to continue to be linked with a multitude of midfielders and that figure could be between 20-30, if it hasn't reached that already.

Liverpool are already linked with...

“We’ve heard a lot about Jude, and now Enzo Fernandez is making headlines! Honestly, I think Liverpool will be linked with 20-30 midfielders in the next months as it’s public knowledge that they’re looking for a top midfielder in 2023."

Romano isn't exactly wrong here; the Reds have seen a whole host of names linked with them this summer and it will likely continue as the season progresses.

Bellingham is always a topic of conversation, given that his recent performances for England have re-ignited the links. Currently, the Telegraph is reporting that Chelsea have entered the race as well, but understand they are behind Real Madrid and Liverpool in the race, with the fee reported at £130M.

Also linked is Benfica's Enzo Fernandez, who's begun the season in great form and is starting to catch the eye of Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.

The 21-year-old has also broken into the Argentinian international set-up, playing his first two games this international break. He could also make it to the World Cup as well, as his stock continues to rise.

Arriving from River Plate this summer, he's made seven starts and averaged a pass success rate of 89.9%, including 1.3 key passes and 2.4 shots per game as well - he's an all-action, technically gifted player who can anchor a midfield.

Being only 21, he could be the perfect long-term replacement for Fabinho. Although, Liverpool will face competition from most of Europe and his stock is only rising. Plus, his deal runs out in 2027 meaning it's likely he won't be cheap.
