Liverpool in talks over attacking signing worth between €65M and €70M - Reds can beat Man Utd to signature

Liverpool are in talks to sign Ajax's winger Antony and are leading the race for the Brazilian's signature.

Antony, 22, has starred for the Dutch club in the last couple of seasons and has emerged as one of the most skilful wingers around.

The Reds face stiff competition from Manchester United with new manager Erik ten Hag keen to reunite with his former player.

The latest reports dictates that Liverpool have 'stood out' in the battle for his signature.

Yahoo journalist Jorge Nicola shared an update on the situation revealing Liverpool's interest and their competition.

It’s said Liverpool have ‘been keeping negotiations’ both with Ajax alongside Antony’s agent Junior Pedroso.

Nicola says that ‘it’s very possible’ that in July, ‘this auction ends positively for a transfer’, but does not divulge who exactly is leading the way.

He claimed that the Red Devils are ‘not alone’ in the race, with Jurgen Klopp’s side emerging in recent reports.

It’s reported that Ajax demand €80M for the transfer, but the ‘tendency’ is that Antony moves for less, between €65M and €70M, while Liverpool are said to be coming ‘strong’ for him.

There's also interest from São Paulo, Antony's former club, as they would receive a % of the fee.

The Brazilian had previously spoken about Liverpool and, more specifically, about Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Speaking to Playstation and UEFA, he named Alexander-Arnold as one of the best defenders in the world.

Antony replied, “I’m going to stick with Arnold. He is a player I like very much and for me [is] one of the best in the world.”
