Konate, Henderson and More Liverpool Players We Can Expect To See Return After The International Break

Liverpool’s start to the season has not gone to plan. The injury list at the club was piling up but we might finally see a squad of players that we are used to.

The midfield crisis was a big problem, with Jurgen Klopp missing key players like Thiago and Naby Keita while being forced to rotate between veteran James Milner, and two inexperienced youngsters, Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliott.

With the announcement of the Premier League being postponed, the Reds will only play their next league game in October against Brighton. This could be a massive boost to the side as many key players will be returning to the squad.

Ibrahima Konaté

The 23-year-old French centre-back was key to the side during Liverpool’s quadruple charge, including starting in the Champions League final. Many were expecting Konaté to be the main centre-back pairing with Virgil van Dijk this season.

Unfortunately, the youngster came off during the last pre-season friendly with RC Strasbourg. Ahead of Liverpool’s fixture with Everton, Jurgen Klopp said this in the press conference, "Ibou, in and around the international break he will be back in training."

Jordan Henderson

Liverpool captain, Jordan Henderson, was forced off after picking up a hamstring injury against Newcastle United. Fortunately, the injury wasn’t too serious and we can expect to see Henderson reunite with Fabinho and other returning midfielders after the international break.

During a press conference ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Napoli, Jurgen Klopp said, "We have the result of the scan. It will be after [the] international break, I think, he will be back."

Naby Keita

Keita has not featured since the Community Shield this season and wasn’t given a clear timeline on his return. Along with rumours regarding an exit, many fans questioned whether his injury was real.

Jurgen Klopp did confirm his injury situation ahead of the Merseyside Derby, saying, "It's a muscle injury. For him a muscle injury, Ox is a muscle injury and they will be out for a while."

The Guinean was included in his national team's squad ahead of the international friendlies. Guinea manager, Kaba Diawara told feguifoot.com, "Naby Keita is injured and he is recovering from his injury. His situation is improving and he is even ahead of schedule.”

“We took a group of 24 players precisely to give him a chance to be able to count on him because he is a very important player for us, on and off the pitch, he is our captain."

We hope that this means we could see Keita earlier than initially thought. However, even if he returns, he won’t be able to feature in the club's Champions League matches because he wasn’t registered in the squad.

Fabio Carvalho

Carvalho has been one of Liverpool’s most exciting players this season, scoring an iconic 97th-minute winner against Newcastle United. He was rewarded with a start in his first Merseyside Derby but was subbed off after picking up a dead leg.

Jurgen Klopp said this during the press conference ahead of the Napoli game, "Fabio got a massive dead leg, which caused the muscle some problems. He is walking now normal but is no chance to train until now."

Other Players

The Reds will still be missing Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Caiomhin Kelleher, and Calvin Ramsay after the international break. It will be exciting to see these returning faces, bringing much-needed stability back to the side.
