Liverpool can use hectic schedule to 'build momentum' says former PL player - but have to be wary of injuries

Liverpool can use the hectic schedule to build momentum according to a former Premier League player, but they must manage their squad.

The Reds embark on a gruelling fixture list that includes nine games this month across two competitions.

Every game is important as they look to build back up the PL table and solidify their place at the top of their Champions League group to ensure they qualify for the knockout stages.

Chris Sutton believes they can be successful in this busy period as it gives them a chance to build momentum - but, personally, Liverpool needs to be careful with their squad.

Sutton believes Liverpool can build momentum

Liverpool have been famous for their momentum and consistency in recent years and have even been described as 'mentality monsters' by some.

We saw them win 15 out of their last 17 games at the end of last season to almost pip Manchester City to the title on the final day and a similar run of form is not out of the question with Jurgen Klopp at the helm.

With a strong run of fixtures and an eight/nine-point to Manchester City and Arsenal to chase down, Sutton believes the next month and a half could be successful for the Reds.

"They can use this relentless schedule to establish a winning rhythm and resurrect their season."

"It’s go time for Klopp’s Liverpool, because right now, they trail Manchester City by a whopping eight points and are being written off in the title race as a result."

They must manage injuries

With players still out injured including Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andy Robertson are still out injured, the Reds must be careful with their squad management across the next set of fixtures. Especially with Diogo Jota, who came off with fatigue against Spain whilst on international duty.

However, they are boosted by the return of Ibrahima Konate and right-back Calvin Ramsay is also nearing a return to playing - with fans eager to see what the summer signing can do.

On top of that, the World Cup is insanely close now and players will not want to get injured the closer we get to November - making it a very interesting period ahead.

If the Reds can rotate the squad accordingly and tighten up their mistakes then they may be able to put together a run that can get them back into contention.
