International team selection is amazing news for Liverpool's £225k-a-week star

Liverpool have been boosted by the latest news regarding Spain's international squad announcement today as £225k-a-week star is left out.

The Reds have suffered with injuries to key players in the opening month of the season which has seen them field a weakened side, especially in midfield.

One player who has been sorely missed is Thiago in central midfield - the midfield maestro is clearly one of Liverpool's best players and their best midfielder by some distance.

That's why fans will be overjoyed at today's Spain squad announcement; the former Barcelona star has been left out of the upcoming UEFA Nations League games and will remain in the North West ahead of a hectic schedule.

Why the news is so important for Liverpool

Having not been selected for the upcoming games against Switzerland and Portugal it's a blessing in disguise for the player and Liverpool.

He had played against Ajax in mid-week but that was only his third start of the season and that makes it two international breaks in a row in which he hasn't featured for his country. Last time out in June he had withdrawn due to injury.

Jurgen Klopp will surely be pleased with the news considering Liverpool have nine games in October to manage and they will need their midfield general fully fit and firing if they are to make up ground in the Premier League.

With that being the last squad before the official World Cup squad, it leaves Thiago out in the cold as far as his country goes, but Liverpool fans won't be worried about that and will be overjoyed at today's news.

Given Thiago's injury problems, the news means that he will enjoy a two-week period of no competitive action or travelling meaning he will be fully rested ahead of a busy run of games.

At 31, he's already in that worrisome stage of his career plus, particularly in his case, he has struggled with injuries all through his career as seen during his time at Liverpool. The hamstring injury suffered on the opening day of the season saw him miss six games as he was out for 29 days in total.

That directly contributed to Liverpool's poor start as a 36-year-old James Milner was forced to start regular games at a point in his career where his levels have significantly dropped.

Returning to full fitness will give him a better chance of avoiding injury and that gives Liverpool a better chance of success.
