"He's part of the squad": 17-year-old may have forced his way into Klopp's squad

Ben Doak has earned further recognition for his all-action displays and his thrilling pre-season campaign could force him into Jurgen Klopp's plans for the 2023/24 season.

On Instagram, the 17-year-old wrote that he enjoyed the end to pre-season as Liverpool beat Darmstadt 3-1 but underscored that the "real work begins soon".

While that might have previously indicated that a loan is on the cards this season, Goal reporter Neil Jones suggests that Doak's electric form may prompt Klopp to consider him in his plans.

Speaking to Empire of the Kop, Jones said: "I believe Liverpool were open to the prospect of loaning Doak this season, but I'd be amazed if his performances in pre-season - and just as importantly his training levels - haven't forced a re-think.

"For me, he's part of the squad."

If Doak really is ready to make the step up to the senior game full-time, he should go out on loan in my opinion. While Liverpool may be limited in midfield pending potential transfer developments, their forward options are stacked.

Mohamed Salah seems to never need a rest and given Doak is a right-wing, his progress at Anfield may be limited.

As fans, we may all get carried away when an exciting player comes through but Doak seems like a thrilling prospect. Not only does he drive past defenders like Alphonso Davies as if they're not top quality is hugely impressive.

Ignore the caption but the clip shows Doak's cameo against Bayern, breezing past Davies, even bullying him at times, and just in general wreaking havoc on Bayern's defence.

While I believe going out on loan would benefit Doak more than anything, he'd be thrilling to have on hand to throw into a game whenever Klopp wants to spark some change.

The teenager may not be prolific just yet but his pace and direct style of play is a nightmare for defenders to consider and having him speeding down the flank would create so much space to exploit for Liverpool strikers Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez.
