Mo Salah delighted every Liverpool fan last week when he signed a new two-year contract with the club. It ended year-long speculation of him leaving the club for a move to Saudi Arabia. However, his decision has come with a massive financial sacrifice on the forward’s part.
Liverpool confirmed the new contract of Mo Salah last week, and it sent a surge of joy across a fan base who were worried about the attacker leaving on a free transfer this summer.
A new two-year deal is in place, and while a clause in his contract could still trigger an early exit, the forward will definitely be in the Liverpool red next season.
Salah is still the highest-paid player at the club, but his signing of the new deal meant that he sacrificed a chance to earn an eye-watering amount of money in Saudi Arabia.

Mo Salah turned down an insane amount of money from Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Pro League were trying to sign Salah for the better part of the last two years, and felt confident of getting their hands on him this summer.
The money on offer from Saudi Arabia was insane, but the forward prioritised winning trophies at Liverpool over filling up his bank account in the Middle East.
According to the BBC, Salah turned down an offer that would have seen him earn a cool £500m, which would have included a signing-on fee and astronomical wages.
His salary could have exceeded the wages earned by Cristiano Ronaldo, still the biggest star and face of the Saudi Pro League.
They wanted Salah to be the new face of the league, but he chose to continue playing at the top level with Liverpool.
