Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk among others have not lived up to expectations this season. After their success last year, the fans expected more from them but that has not been the case.
It has been a long month for Liverpool in October; the Reds have won just one game this month. Arne Slot’s side are still in a horrible run of form, losing six of their last seven games in all competitions.
After a good start to the season, everything seems to be falling apart. The shocking 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace at Anfield angered the fanbase, who shared their views on the first team.
Al-Ahly speak out on Mohamed Salah Liverpool exit
In this poor run of form, the senior figures in the team have been singled out. Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk have had a part to play in this poor form. Van Dijk has been making uncharacteristic errors while Salah has just four goals in all competitions. Arne Slot has also received his fair share of blame for his tactics and team selection.
The Egyptian has been in the news recently for issues off the pitch, involving transfer talk. Graeme Bailey recently spoke about how Saudi clubs are still keen on bringing the 33-year old to the league.
Reports from Egypt emerged this week that vice-presidential candidate Yassin Mansour has said he will push to bring Mohamed Salah to the Egyptian league if elected. But current Al-Ahly deputy supervisor Sayed Abdel-Hafiz shut down the rumours, and said the club is looking at ”more realistic things”.
Will Salah be at Liverpool next season?
Judging from his performances this season, and how Liverpool are faring, it is not crazy for someone to think Mohamed Salah could leave. Depending on how the season ends, the board could make some drastic decisions.
| Games | Goals | Assists |
|---|---|---|
| 13 | 4 | 3 |
And there are suitors waiting in the wings if the Reds do decide to move on from the 33-year old. However, the season is still very pre-mature after just over 13 games. There is a lot in the pipeline from now till next summer for Liverpool to even consider letting go of one of their best players.
