Match Report: Bournemouth 1-2 Liverpool: Cup quarter-final sealed by Darwin Nunez

Darwin Nunez continues to shine for club and country and after he booked Liverpool's place in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup, fans' love for him has strengthened.

Cody Gakpo opened the scoring in the 31st minute with the sixth goal Liverpool have scored from a rebound this season. The home side hit back with a goal from Justin Kluivert in the 64th minute.

Ultimately, Liverpool's £85 million man, Darwin Nunez, was the difference. With just 30 minutes, the Uruguayan hitman turned the game on its head, scoring with a powerful curler from the left flank.

It was an interesting game. It was one that the Reds obviously dominated but with a few experiments in terms of team shape at the start, with Salah central and Dominik Szoboszlai operating on the wing at times, it was a bit disjointed.

However, Jurgen Klopp's chosen starting XI showed its quality with a barrage of shots from all ranges and angles on Bournemouth's Ionuț Radu's goal.

Liverpool had 18 shots in total with seven on target. On another night, with better accuracy or shot selection, the away side might have scored more.

For their part, Bournemouth were decent but struggled to match the quality Liverpool had in decisive moments across the pitch. That's no surprise given the gulf in many areas between the two sides.
