Manchester United “have an eye on RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate”, according to Eurosport’s Dean Jones, but Liverpool have agreed personal terms with the Frenchman.
The Reds lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League as they made simple errors in defence all game, highlighting their need to sign defensive reinforcements.
Despite their impressive displays recently, Nat Phillips and Ozan Kabak simply aren’t at the level required level to compete on the biggest stage with the best players in the world. At least not yet anyway.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez were missed hugely for the umpteenth time this season and the sooner they return the better. Having said that, Jurgen Klopp needs to reinforce his options at centre-back and the club is hard at work as they negotiate with RB Leipzig over a move for Ibrahima Konate.
Eurosport’s Dean Jones reports that, with Eric Bailly’s future at Manchester United unclear, they are looking at potential replacements and Konate has emerged as a person of interest for the Red Devils.
The RB Leipzig no.6 has agreed on personal terms with Liverpool after being convinced by Klopp to choose the Anfield outfit over other interested parties but a deal is still far from being agreed with RB Leipzig.
With that said, Liverpool should keep a wary eye on Manchester United. Konate might be set on a move to Anfield right now but if he is offered more money by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or a guaranteed starting role, he could have his head turned. Crazier things have happened.
Liverpool are looking to get a deal for Konate over the line by the end of the season but the clock is ticking as their last Premier League game of the season is on the 23rd of May.
